I have HTC Legend that I previously updated to Android 2.2 version. The phone seems to be "Vodafone" branded, although it was bought in Russia. Hboot is 1.00.000. The version of Legend software is 3.14.161.1. Radiomodule is 47.51.35.17U_7.13.35.05. Ultimately, I want to install Cyanogen Mod.

I have completed many guides, but I'm still unable to downgrage the phone. Say, this guide: chrg.zxq.net/htc-legend-root.html
  • I have tried a couple of goldcards; everything seems to be OK.
  • Next, I apply hack4legend-v5.zip. I was unable to get full access for /dev/mtd/mtd0, but some guides say it's OK.
  • With VISIONary+, I performed "flash": /data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img. There were no messages, so I'm not shure that flashing is successful.
  • The next step -- downgrading to 1.31 -- fails. If I ran RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.31.405.5_R_Radio_47.26.35.04_ 7.05.35.26L_release_126592_signed.exe , the software reboots the phone so it's displaying "HTC" in the black screen. Nothing happens anymore -- software says that's a problem with connection with the phone. But the USB-cable is certainly OK, I worked with adb and copied data much.
Nor I succeeded putting the rom file on the SD-card, renaming it into LEGIMG.zip. Rebooting into fastboot mode does not yields anything -- the phone does not "recognize" this file, as many people suggest it has to.
Are there any ways to move further and finally root the phone, and install custom rom?

Hi,

Have you try this guide: http://wiki.cyanogen...ll_Update_Guide ?

Don't forget to uninstall any HTC software on your computer before starting, then install the provided version in the guide.
At step 2 (goldcard) to be sure your goldcard is working, you must be able to open it without windows asking to format it.

When using "r4-legend-root" .bat files, to keep the windows open after the process you can either:
- add "pause" at the end of each .bat files
- open a command prompt and launch .bat files into it

If your goldcard is not ok, you'll error messages after "INFO signature checking..." in step1

I have check your guide, seams ok to me, maybe you can cross it with the one from cyanogen wiki (linked above)

Bye !
