This is an alpha preview & unsupported version. You have to know what you are doing when using this. If you don't, don't use it. If you do, use it at your own risk. You've been warned!

CyanogenMod 6 is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.2 which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.

#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
 */

This is a pure, working AOSP build which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. Various hardware-specific code are still included, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

* Can be used with or without Google applications
* Kernel 2.6.29 from HTC with my own and others fews tweaks)
* CM6 full CHANGELOG for all credits and details

All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github! Send pull requests with your changes!

INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM to your Hero (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock your device and install Amon_RA's recovery image
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon

- Upgrading?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)

This an Alpha unsupported preview. Please no bug report for now we are aware of most of them.

HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
- Verify it hasn't already been reporting in the issue tracker CyanogenMod issue tracker - Hero port issue tracker
- Read this
- Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
- Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
- Pastebin links preferred
- Please use the issue tracker whenever possible!

Thanks Lox. Great Job.

The radio you posted is an image, so I created a signed update zip file:

update-hero-gsm-radio-63.18.55.06PH_6.35.15.11-signed.zip

Tested on mine Hero and works fine. First ever signed update file I've created, thanks to Daneshm90's script.

Awesome work! After going through many unstable 2.1 builds when it was released, this first 2.2 feels really solid. Little FC's and some bugs of course, but definitly useable on a day to day basis. :)

EU OTA 2.1 came with 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11. This radio also works. Maybe PH and PU radios are in fact the same thing.

lox, the pm system doesn't like your nick, please get ahold of me (here or IRC) so i can set you up on the issue tracker.

that being said, I don't think "test0" bugs should go in the issue tracker.

This is because of the font Droid Sans Fallback is missing from /system/fonts.

I've uploaded it to the xda-developers topic here: View Single Post

I have the same problem, using Amon Ra 1.6.2

*EDIT: I've flashed the most recent nightly update as well as FRF83, but I keep getting the same error every time I try to flash FRF91:

Hey Lox, I can confirm the same is happening for me.

Verifying update package...
E:Wrong digest:
system/lib/libspeech.so

Installation aborted.

I checked the MD5, it matches the one you provided.

Using Amon_RA 1.6.2
