when I installed the stable cm7 on my coworkers bravoc (mobi PCS - a carrier specific to hawaii that has CDMA desire) it won't recieve SMS/MMS, but will send them out.. I don't know if that has to do with the stinking half-ass of a carrier (mobi PCS) that we have here in hawaii for all the folks that dont want to get on a real national carrier... but I've tried everything from wiping, re-wiping/re-flashing, APN settings, etc etc and it wont work.. the exact same issue with receiving SMS/MMS happened with the MIUI gingerbread build for CDMA desire too, so I'm thinking it might be more of a gingerbread 2.3.3 issue, more so than whatever ROM it is...??? any ideas?

yes, if I flash/restore back to a rooted froyo 2.2 or stock-rooted (2.1) ROM then everything works just fine.  Right now, becuase of the limited availability of CDMA desire ROMs, I have it on a froyo ROM, and there are no issues I can see.

now that you mention it, the working froyo and stock roms were both sense... hmm.. yeah, the cm7 and MIUI were both the only AOSP roms i tried, which both gave the same problem. could that be the difference? sense vs. aosp?

potentially. A giant difference under the hood is that the Sense roms are all using the HTC kernel while the AOSP roms are using CM kernel.

This is what I did with Cyanogenmod V6 and it always seemed to work. I would recieve txt from all networks. If you open up the voice dialer on your phone and then tell them it "open APN" is should come up a thing to launch the APN settings. In there you can create a new APN setting (I think im saying that right) and fill it in with these settings:
Name: USCC
APN: internet
Proxy:
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: yourMSID
Server:
MMSC: http://mmsc1.uscc.net/mmsc/MMS
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
APN type: mms

yourMSID = Your number 1234567896

then hit the menu button and hit save and test it out. I know that you also have to have the 3g enabled to recieve pic messages. Thats what I have figured out at least. I just put v7 on my phone over the lunch hour but cant test this APN setting until this evening. I would imagine this should work though from what I understand. Once I test and confirm I will post and let know.

Just for clarification I am running:
HTC desire on USCC CDMA network

Oh shoot, I didnt realize this. So SMS wont work on cm7.0.2? It was kind of weird cause I put this on my phone and the first time it booted up I received a standard txt message. But just one and then no more would come through.

You should read the whole thread before posting. It's only an issue with a certain carrier.

Sorry I didnt clarify, the person that I received the txt from used to be an alltel customer and is now on verizon with the old alltel number. This is the person that I received the txt from just the first time I booted the phone, after that I didn't receive anymore

I had the same problem with 7.0 release candidates and had to revert to a stock nandroid.  as soon as it booted up, i got 14 sms messages.  it did work for a period of time at first.  then sms stopped coming through totally.  this was with chompSMS installed too.

my voicemail icon would never go away on 7.0rc either.  i'm about to try the release (well 7.0.2.1 or whatever).

I have Cellular South and am most definitely NOT a former AllTel customer.  this account was set up directly with cell south.

It's the people sending them that have been mostly Alltel customers.

I just wanted to add the fact that I'm a Cellular South customer, have been since about 2000 or so.  Only ever had them as my carrier.

All that being said, I've had this SMS issue come up with every release of CM, as well as with Ultimate Droid.  The only fix that I have found is to completely wipe and reinstall CM or revert to stock.

Wiping and reinstalling fixes the issue entirely [for some extended period of time, usually].  It generally stays fine for a few weeks/month.  Only once have I had the issue resume within a day or two, but that was on CM6.

Otherwise, wiping and reflashing has been the go-to fix for me.  Still kind of an annoying and tedious process.

Thanks for the awesome work though, guys, I know it's rough going.

This may have been resolved by the carrier. Today a friend who was an old Alltel customer (converted to Verizon) sent me a text msg. Previously he was not able to do so and had been using my gvoice number to send me msgs. He accidentally used my real number and what do you know it came through. we had a conversation with no dropped msgs. Also a few days ago i got a weird text with a bunch of jibberish (brew, blah blah reset msgid etc.) I'm wondering if the text I received was some update from the carrier that resolved the issue. regardless it works. so maybe its been resolved for me and everyone else.
