I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but a quick search turned up nothing.

So I use drocap2 to take screenshots, but the easiest way (I know of) is leaving it in the notification bar and the less icons the better. So I was wondering if it would be possible, somehow to have a hardware keypress trigger a screenshot.

For example: a long-press of the menu key (on my Droid) does nothing so maybe this could be used to take a screenshot.

Thoughts? Comments?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, I find myself using the "Shake" and "Timer" triggers of drocap2 more than the Notification dropdown because then nothing is visually in the way of the actual screen that you want to capture.
Also, there's an app called ShootMe! that takes screenshots. It has "Shake" and "Shout" triggers. I find the best method (the one usually without capture related problems) of these to be the "shout" capture. You can essentially have the screen that you want to capture viewable and simply make some noise (cough, yell, speak, clap, whatever) and it will capture the screen for you.
I think drocap2 is a better app in most respects, but I just wish they would add the "shout" capture (or the ability to use a hard/softkey button as you discussed).
Note: the "shake" triggers on both apps are far from perfect.

Okay well that is REALLY awesome, but there is no hardware key for taking a screenshot.

Well no duh, you have to assign a key to do that. For example, if you don't use the search key, you can assign it to the screenshot app...

Hmmm okay -- any other ideas for this?

Is there an app that just takes a screenshot, saves it and closes the application. This would be perfect for mapping to a hardware key.

Going to try that key re-mapping tonight, but was wondering if there was any other solution or an app that does what mentioned above.
