I just installed nightly 104 and I've run into something interesting. If listening to pandora through my headphones the music dims when  a notification sound comes though (as it always has) but now the music does not go back to full volume after some notifications. The next song reverts to the correct volume.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Does anyone know how to backup my cyanogenmod settings? (so I may restore them after a "clear data" ROM flash).

Thanks
If you have titanium backup, click on the backup/restore tab at the top. then scroll down and you should see [CM SETTINGS] in green. click on that and select "backup". That should do it. Then when you want to restore it, just go back to the backup/restore tab and scroll down until you see the [CM Settings] and restore.

I have been running 7.1.0-RC1 on my Captivate but have been longing for some of the improvements included in the nightlies.  However, when I have tried the nightlies (87, 91, and 123) I have been unable to get my bluetooth radio to turn on.  Actually, the very first time I tried a nightly, it seemed to work briefly, but then got in a bad state and hasn't worked since.  When I restore my 7.1.0-RC1 ROM, bluetooth works again.

Each time I have tried one of the nightlies, I have done both a "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" from ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.5.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

My google push notifications don't seem to be working appropriately now that I've installed nightly #104. Gtalk is coming through my comp fine and updating in my phone, but no notification. Also, Google + instant upload doesn't seem to be instant uploading anything anymore...

I re installed many of the apps from Titainium Backup (with data). Should I have installed the apps fresh? I'm not sure why that should matter, but I'm not very knowledgeable of exactly how the communications happen in the background...

Anyone else have experience with this?

I plan on uninstalling some of the apps and then re installing them. Friendcaster (for facebook) seems to work fine, so I'm kind of perplexed by the lack of response on some apps.

UPDATE: I think I got some of it figured out. For whatever reason, part of my account did not sync, and some notifications were turned off. I'm not sure how it happened, but - for now - things seem to be back to the way they should be.

I have a string of pretty strange issues - The lockscreen doesn't exist anymore; My home button doesn't work (im on captivate GB bootloaders); I can't get any settings to stick in any application, even system settings; last but not least, when it connects to my computer, it says "usb connected" over and over very rapidly.

I have a small hunch that this is connected to the constant FC of "google services framework."

??????????

EDIT: This is my first post on this forum, and I just noticed that my picture is my FB picture, which shows me in my other life as a guitarist in a hardcore band.  I laughed.

The recent update (Nightly 126) gave me some options for LED notifications. What I really want is for the LED lights to stay on when the screen is on. (Like what Keep The Lights On used to do). There is an option in the settings under advanced that says "Always Pulse - LED will pulse while screen is on".  When I select this, the LED lights stay on which is great...but they also stay on when the screen is off which will kill my battery quick. I just want the lights on when the screen is on.

Any ideas?

I don't think this functions like you expect. I have this option enabled as well, and found that if I have a notification in the status bar (such as new mail) the lights will stay on when the screen is turned off, but if I clear the notification, the lights turn off. This function (as I see it) is to control a notification light, not to illuminate the buttons.

Can you test and confirm this?

The captivates button illumination has worked for me as long as I can remember (build 90-100) and the led function doesn't seem to do anything as the captivate doesn't have a notification led as far as I know.

the LED notification system (using the backlights behind the keys as a notification LED) is a new merge that can be controlled via "settings", "CM settings", "interface", "LED notifications"... select the apps you'd like to configure them for (under "unconfigured") and set them to either display always, display on event, or disable... since we don't have an LED notification, we've hijacked the backlight keys

(they consume very litttle battery and let you know if you have a notification without having to constantly flip your screen on and off)

I've just flashed a recent nightly (it was 09202011).  This is my first experience with CM, so sometimes I'm not sure what's a bug and what's a feature.

I've found that the "home" button doesn't seem to work.  I have to use the back button to get out of whatever I'm doing.  This doesn't seem like a feature, but maybe there's a setting somewhere that I need to adjust.  Any advice?

There is a long home press setting under settings> cm settings > input. But I would think that home should normally launch your default home app. Which if you use a non-default can be accessed thru your settings > manage apps > your preferred home app.

And thanks for the info on the notifications, ill play around with it now that I know it does stuff.

I had this same problem as well with the #104 nightly. I upgrade to one of the newer versions (I'm on #127 now) and now my "home" button functions like it should again. :)

Hey everyone... I saw this issue a couple places on various forums, but I haven't seen anything recently with it so here I am :)

I'm on nightly #104. I had some ups and downs, but everything has been running really well - thanks to the developers!!
But I notice that every couple of days or sometimes daily the performance falls off some.... checking battery use, Android OS is taking up most of the battery (36% - ish). I assumed something RAM intensive was using the OS and have found that if I turn the phone off and let the battery cool off (symptom of OS-high % is phone is warm to touch) it reboots fine with no issues.

Today I kept closer tabs on the phone and all day it seemed to be doing well. Display was the chief user of battery (12-16%) and OS was two or three down. I did small stuff, WiFi, 3G, email, FB, Google +... not too much. Later in the day I checked and OS was at 36% of battery. And it stayed that way even though most of the last few hours I didn't use the phone at all.

Some ideas:
Phone battery was lower (<50%) when I noticed the high OS %
WiFi was on but not connected... not sure if this drain is through Android OS or not.

I have tapped on Android OS to see what is using the battery but all I get is the amount of time the CPU has been used - not very helpful :)

I've found workarounds so I can keep the phone working really well, so I'm most interested in the why this happens...

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

UPDATE: 092611 This morning I woke up and my phone was charged. The phone felt cool to the touch, but the OS was at 26%. After approx 1.5 hr it was up to 33%.

I reboot and it started at 26% (I assume it's higher because a lot of OS is needed to start the system)

Do the percentages reset at anytime?

UPDATE: 092611-13:37 EST
My phone has been sitting nearly unused all day and, as time went on, the % dropped. Now currently at 16%. So it appears that my 'issue' stemmed from a period of time where the OS was heavily used and until the law of averages plays out, my OS % still appears high - even if it's not being used at all.

Is there a way to force the reset? At this point I think I need a better understanding of how the system works so I can best troubleshoot my problems...

(sorry for the super long post... if this is topic should be placed somewhere else, please let me know)

I'm running nightly 133 and the battery has been great so far (over 24 hours and still have 25% left). I was having battery issues with some of the previous nightlies, so when I flashed this time, I was fully charged and flashed while on the charger. That may have made a difference in my battery life.

Any news positive / negative on the newest nightlies? thinking about going #136 :)

EDIT (10/02/11):
I installed #136 last night and so far it seems pretty zippy! One thing that I noticed is that it did not 'fix' my camera. Randomly, while on nightly #104, the stock camera stopped working (try to take a picture and it would force close). I could take video and I could still take pictures with an app like Retro Camera.

I was hoping that installing #136 would fix the problems, but it did not. I only wiped the cache. I didn't do a data dump as well.

Is there a way to restore the stock camera? I'll do the data wipe if necessary, but I'd like to avoid that if I can.

Thanks for any help!!
