Sorry if you think Im rude or anything.  But what instructions?  Where are they?

If you flash CM7 from 2.3.3 your ext sd won't mount, this is known. You need to go back to 2.2 because of the bootloaders. Read the instructions carefully on the following link you have all the files you need to go back to 2.2 and then flash CM7 http://forum.cyanoge...000-galaxysmtd/

Be sure to first read everything, the rest is on you :)

Exactly, codeworkx said, over at XDA, wait for the next nightly, do not flash.

No, Its just that at times people forget that there are alot of people out here learning and having fun and the posts aren't very clear because our minds aren't there with yours yet.  Thanks for the info!!!  Although from the post following this one, it looks as if this galaxys update was broken and they have said to wait until tomorrow!  How can you wait until tomorrow when your phone is wacked out!  Mine is!  LOL!  Going back to Froyo.....

At this link you have previous nightlies http://sourceforge.n.../files/galaxys/
the one named update-cm-7-05152011-NIGHTLY-GalaxyS-signed.zip works fine, I'm on it at the moment.
For most CM users it's fine that one update doesn't work because they are already on the one that works and the you just wait a day.

Thats the one I uploaded the other day, however, it is not stable, i can't call, no media volume, the headset icon is on..... etc......   so even if i was to use the prior one, on my phone, it just doesn't work.   I am going back to Froyo 2.2 and then installing Continuum again, and wait for a more stable version to come out on the Galaxy, since my phone is a Captivate, however, goes to Galaxy I900 when I use other ROM's.

Okay, then here is my question....  I was using Continuum 2.3.3 gingerbread rom.......   which makes my phone into a galaxy i9000 model.  Now it makes sense with the post below that I would have to go back to stock 2.2 which would render my phone a Captivate again.  Then yes, I would use the Captivate version.  I did not know this, that in order to use CM7 it wasn't compatible with other Samsung based Roms that you have start from your Froyo 2.2 which is Captivate.

This is more clear. Thanks!

Here is what you do:

1. Go back on any Froyo Rom (2.2) with froyo bootloaders (if you're already not).
2. Flash a kernel that has ClockworkMod with Odin, if the one you have doesn't already have it.
3. Download and flash update-cm-7-INITIAL-Captivate-signed.zip with ClockworkMod
4. Download and flash update-cm-7-05152011-NIGHTLY-Captivate-signed.zip with ClockworkMod

I don't know how this nightly runs on Captivate (all thou it was built specifically for it), but the one for I9000 runs without any major bugs.

Ivanva has it right.
Captivatesjs don't flash anything cm7 that doesn't say captivate in it. The Roms are model specific you will have problems say with i9000 on captivate. Also nightlies on download.cyanogenmod.com are test I suggest you follow the xda threads and wait for one of the devs to say there ok to download they have already states they will do this. Also take a look at op there it has detailed instructiond on how to flash. Very simple with new rom manager support.

Thanks for all the clarification for other noobs you are saying:

If your phone is a Captivate and by using other Gingerbread 2.3.3. ROMS such as continuum that turns your model into a Galaxy I9000.  IN order to get CM7 no matter what phone model you have to go back to stock 2.2.  My stock 2.2 would be for the Captivate, so of course when I load 2.2 if will turn my previously i9000 (by using Samsung based ROM;s) back into the Captivate.  Makes sense.

So then, I would have to go to the Captivate drivers and forum.  Again thanks Cuvano, hey are you Cuban?

New nightly is out cm_galaxysmtd_full-1.zip , and it works (flashed it and tried it).
I was flashing from cm7 though, don't know if it works from other roms, I think not at the moment.

Correct. Here is the link to the XDA thread I mentioned earlier.
http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=978150
Follow the directions on the OP and you should be fine. The nightly you are going to want to flash is 5/15 or 5/16 5/16 was updated for ROM manager support but that is the only difference. According to Atinm(dev)the nightlies through cyanogen mod are still in progress. Once you have CM7 up and running just look for updates through ROM manager if it's not there then there is no tested nightly yet as they do not drop as frequently as the nightly here will.

Update Atinm just posted that the nightly is a go. Just install #9 working perfectly.

Just flashed build 6. Works really nicely.

No issues with flashing. Coming from DarkyRom v10RC6 (based on samsung gingerbread rom). What I did:
1. Nandroid backup
2. Wipe
3. Flash CM
4. Flash GApps

Everything working just as I expected (with similar issues that existed before this became official CM)
1. No FM radio
2. 2G/3G toggle not working

A few extra questions:
1. What's with all the builds? 5 builds in less than a day?
2. I'm getting the crazy colour graphics glitch on boot (for a few seconds before the CM boot logo kicks in). Is this an issue? Or something I did?

1. They were working things out with the merge. Just seen a tweet that functional builds for Cm for vibrant Cap and I9000 are working and on rom manager. should be able to take the latest one for your phone and have it work no problem.
2. I just installed on my cappy and didn't see the colour glitch you are referring to. Did you reboot and have it happen again??

I tried Build #9, which corresponds with Atinm's tweet that builds were functional. However, I get the brightness issue (max brightness all the time), wifi is never green, and some apps are missing. This happened before when I tried one of the earlier ROM Manager builds.

Is this just me, or...?
