Given the recent explosion of nightly users, I understand your need for a place to discuss them, and/or ask if other users are having similar issues as you...this is that place

  • DO NOT: Post to the bug tracker
  • DO NOT: Open another thread (I will enforce this with temp bans)
  • DO NOT: Think of this as official forum support; this thread will be strictly user to user support. Don't expect CM-dev help.
** These CyanogenMod builds are highly experimental and unsupported.
**
** Please refrain from submitting bug reports for any issues
** you may encounter while running one of these builds.
**
** Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
** cause of male impotence.

KICKASS!

So now that we have an official sub-forum, can we persuade koush to add the Encore nightlies to ROM Manager? Pretty please :D

Great to have found this. I'm running v3 @1.1ghz. No unreported problems yet. Looking forward to seeing what developed and help from u guys.
Meh, it's so so.. thanks for the link though. I was hoping more detail on encore build...

Also, I hear that the reason we do not get some specific apps from market is only partly due to the build.prop ID... the other half of the issue concerns the telephony signal, which we don't have. Any way to fake that? or is there some magic ID we can bypass with to get all searches and downloads from the market working?

Are you guys getting rid or hiding the useless apks (mms, camera, speech, etc.)from the launcher (eventually)?

The overclock 1.1Ghz kernel seems very stable. Tried Quadrant but it locks up during the first section. Market works mostly with a few glitches, can't purchase, but can download. Swype won't recognize the device, but Slideit works flawlessly.

A lot of these questions have easy answers over at http://nookdevs.com/NookColor. On the Froyos floating around XDA, you have to keep things like Phone.apk and Messaging, MMS, etc, but you can hide them in a good 3rd party launcher like ADW ex. The market issues are partly from available apps and partly from the build.prop. I currently have a Nook Color running Froyo with a build.prop that spoofs it as a Verizon Moto Droid 1. This works flawlessly. However, that is Froyo and this is GB, so you can't just take the build.prop adjustments verbatim, and I would imagine you would need to look at a Droid running CM7 to get the right ones. I have an Incredible coming in from Swappa mid-week so I'll start experimenting on Trusty Droid with CM nightlies once the Dinc is my daily driver if no one gets on it or sooner of Droid1 gets an RC.

EDIT: Having both a real Droid and a spoofed "Droid" confuses the android market website. I only see one entry (and I did used to see 2 on Eclair) and all downloads go only to my phone. YMMV.

I am totally screwing this up somehow...

I've installed the CM7 nightlies (3 and now 4) and have been unable to get the gapps to work... no market, etc.

I've flashed the gapps from the wiki site twice.  I show market, but it just flashes back to the home screen.  Gmail FC's.

I tried logging in to youtube, and it gave me a "trouble with authentication" error.

Any ideas?

Did you format system, cache, and data per the instructions (using the correct ext4 capable CWR)? Are you using the correct gapps?

Well, I burned the CWR image (8gb_clockwork-0.1-ext4.tar.gz) onto an 8 gig chip; copied the nightly and the gapp of the CM wiki (CM7) Are those the right ones?  The CWR says 3.0.0.5 when it's in recovery; rom manager says 3.0.0.7.

The gapps set I ran first was gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip of the CM7 on the CM wiki.

So, I reinstalled everything, ran the correct gapps... and now even the youtube app is gone so I don't have any way to activate the market even if it was there... which it isn't.

Update:

I screwed up and flashed a NON EXT4 CWR image... clockwork-0.7.tar.

Flash the actual ext4... and all is well!
