Hi xt300 users,
I made root of my xt300 (superoneclick), and made some modifications on crap oem image (that sucks):
removed all com.motorola.blur* (except home that cannot be removed)
put kill -19 o com.motorola.blur.home on startup.

Set the cpu to more agresive battery safe. Now my battery doubled the time it holds.

The droid x security was bypassed by a bootstrap in the logwrapper, one of the first processes started by init.
This modified logwrapper then kills all the processes and becomes the new init and can load any binary you want.

The only problem is that the kernel/ramdisk cannot be changed, just the system partition. But still, this enabled the recovery mod on the droid x, as well as some other hacking, including installing custom roms(though using the stock kernel).

The best thing of this is that with recovery mod it becomes a lot easier to backup and restore configurations for testing.

Someone at xda-developers created a recovery mod for the spice xt300! They used something like the logwrapper hack, but using the charge_only_mode binary.

Link for the thread: http://forum.xda-dev...=1381896&page=6

Downloads are in page 8. The user is GentryLamp.

I think the secret now is compiling a custom rom, right? Go devs!!!

There are new improvements in the XDA-dev thread: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1756608
GentryLamp managed to build a CM7 version for ****e, but he's stuck in the white screen... Any help is appreciated.

Oliver, i think you were really straight forward to developing a custom rom for ****e, can you help this guy?

Isn't only the "Huawei U8160" that's have the same chipset as the XT300 has.  The HTC Tattoo have MSM7225 chipset and an official CianogenMod, and an unofficial ICS working with some bugs in it.

About the risk of re-write the bootloader many times ever time that something gets wrong ONLY in the system partition, you can also boot in fastboot mode (Vol+ with PWR) and flash JUST system partition with this flashable backup from this site.

Sorry for my bad english, because I'm brazilian.

Funny
I have two Mt, one Mb200 (Dext), which I have installed a beautiful darker Ver. of Cyanogenmod 7.2
And one XT300 (spice) which I haven´t done anything but root and removed Mt bloatware.

People says Xt300 isn´t elegible to port a custom rom, but what can we say about the older Mb200?
Since I really like mess around old cellphones, I will keep pounding my spice till it´s dead!
Regards everyone!
