I broke the screen on my Stratosphere and went back to the Droid for a week. It was a night and day difference, for the worse! I really loved the Droid, but the Stratosphere just runs so fluid in comparison. I'm running Simply Stunning 5.6 on the Droid, and it helps some of the glitches compared to CM7, but the experience was still dreadful. I get lags and stutters continuously on the Droid, but they are very rare on the Strat. Oh and I do get the same answer problem sometimes--it's really frustrating.

I will miss the Droid for its styling and its ambition, but its age is readily apparent now. Perhaps I will try CM7.2rc as I get some spare time (no testing out phone calls).

As far as the battery, newer phones seem to be coming with a feature that will hard-shut-down when you hold the power button for 6 seconds; maybe this is how they justify not being able to pull the battery?

So if I'm looking to update a year old nightly on a retired OG, I'll be best off with SS? Tried Pete's AOSP release and I need my Cyan tweaks. This old guy's far too much of a tank to put out to pasture! I use him for music-hung on to an old release of Slacker that still runs well-and hacking practice/system testing/etc.

For example Opera Mobile would show the splash screen and then I'd be back on my home screen, as if it self-task-killed or something.  No message, no FC or anything.

There were 1 or 2 other apps I noticed doing that before I did a nandroid restore.  Sorry that I can't remember the names of the other apps, right now.

I'm back to 7.2rc1 again now, which I love.  Haven't noticed any problems there except the Torch FC thing, I just use the MotoTorch LED app instead.  I just picked the 18% setting for CompCache and rebooted and tried Opera Mobile to make sure it wasn't that, and it works fine.
