Given the recent explosion of nightly users, I understand your need for a place to discuss them, and/or ask if other users are having similar issues as you...this is that place

  • DO NOT: Post to the bug tracker
  • DO NOT: Open another thread (I will enforce this with temp bans)
  • DO NOT: Think of this as official forum support; this thread will be strictly user to user support. Don't expect CM-dev help.
** These CyanogenMod builds are highly experimental and unsupported.
**
** Please refrain from submitting bug reports for any issues
** you may encounter while running one of these builds.
**
** Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
** cause of male impotence.

Yeah I know of aospGBmod (actually running 0.2.1 now).

But rumor has it that aosp will remove all CM traces when the rom gets stable. I.E. No more CM7, just AOSP Gingerbread. So.... Like Darchstar did for us with CM6, will we or will we not get CM7? (Officially)

At this time there is a lack of a specific dev for our device so as of right now it is unclear what the future will be for a cdma CM7 on the Hero.

ive been running cm6.1 for weeks and my camera works fine(??)
also, i tried the aosp, and it was nice, but i did have a few issues w/data and gps didnt want to recognize my position.
and there were random reboots.
so until i find a more stable gb for my hero (or get a better phone that already has support) imma stick w/6.1

Over at XDA AOSP have gotten a 2.3 with camera working. Everything seems to work except VVM and tethering. Been running for a couple days and it is pretty nice.

I've been running the latest AOSP CMod located here ROMRepo since 1/23.  It's built from the CM7 code and has the new boot animation.  I've been impressed so far how it runs.  If you have Sprint, update your Profile/PRL with a Sense ROM.  I was skeptical at first with the process you had to follow before installing this version of Gingerbread
(there's a Wiki at the link above)...lots of wiping and formatting.  But once I got it running I was amazed how smooth it runs.  I even updated my wife's Hero to this latest version.  I've flashed to the latest 1/28 version and will keep doing this with every new update.

I'm quite anxious to see CM7 here for our Hero's.  I couldn't wait no longer and wanted to try out the AOSP version.  I have GB on mine when Sprint/HTC had no plans to update the Hero to Froyo...I'm now 2 upgrades above them.  I love being in control of my Hero.

I can't be bothered to make 10 legitimate posts @ XDA-Developers in order to post in the development thread for aosp 2.3.2, so I figured that this would be the next best place to ask...

Is there any reason why the trackball can't be enabled without the trackball hack?  I mean, it's no inconvenience at all, but I noticed that when my phone is about to fall asleep, the trackball comes on.

The AOSP build of Gingerbread is running pretty smoothly on my Hero as well.  I use Google voice for voicemail and the free wifi tethering app from market works well for my occasional need for that.  Now I need to patch my other android devices to enable them to see the ad hoc wireless network!

Can I still flash a custom kernel from a previous CM 6.1 ROM? Will it still work?
