Hi all,

I keep getting this request so here it is, A version of CM5.0.8 for the new radio (and some kanged in updates while I'm here)

Please note this is for 32B boards only (Magic 1.2 users yes you use a EBI0 kernel .. but you still have a 32A board)

What you get

* A version of my 2.6.34.7 pershoot based kernel (and related modules) newer than the original CM5 but without some of the most recent changes that seem you may consider needing ironing out. This kernel is obviously patched for the new radio/SPL.
For details/source see this commit: https://github.com/e...d1cdef3de9af797

* Updated rzscontrol from cm6.1 nighties to allow compcache to operate on the newer kernel.

* Updated version of Superuser/su (From CM nightly 271)

* Bidi text patch included http://code.google.c...ail?id=1663#c35

* exploid security patch included http://forum.cyanoge...security-patch/

Note: to make camera work with the older proprietary files I needed to restore the camera memory size from 5 to 8; this means you have 3MB less extra ram than the full CM6 kernels (but all features of the rom including hardware 3D will work)

Download
cm5.0.8-2708portB_S.zip
MD5: 70f0b28980462749a134904865c34237

Gapps From the wiki:
http://wiki.cyanogen...ion#Google_Apps
Select: ERE36B for CyanogenMod 5

Install
1) If you do not already have the new SPL/Radio install it
http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=831139

** If you are currently on CM5, take a nandroid backup before starting; and restore it after installing both the new SPL+Radio then proceed for a no-wipe update.

2) From recovery flash cm5.0.8-2708port_S.zip (do not reboot yet)

3) Flash the GApps

4) reboot

Notes

Since its included in the update.zip you need not install cm-5.0.8-DS-bidifix-signed.zip or security_cm5init_S.zip.  Most of the Rom is untouched so most CM5.0.8 themes will work as usual.

Please use this thread for any concerns related to this ported version of the installer.

Hi! I really thinks its better idea to to create 2708 port for 6.1 stable =)
This is off topic and answered elsewhere thus I must ignore it.  But as always most things related to the new radio/spl can be found on this op post

So... I can NOT use this on a MT3g 1.2?

If not, do you know where I could find a MT3g 1.2 port for this new radio?

Also, I have radio 2.22.28.25. Im not sure if there's a difference.

Thanks for the effort Terry! I'll give this a go for old times sake, see how it does with the extra RAM.
PMed you btw..

perhaps a stupid question, and I'm only asking out of curiosity, but from what I understand this is pulling in additional memory freed up with the new radio. Could this be combined with with the method which pulls memory off the gpu to provide an even larger overall ram boost?

Will the kernel in this work with Super E?
I've been using your original kernel, seems to be working. Just had to change picture resolution to 2m instead of 3m

Installed the ezOldBuildsKernel-2708_S and everything seems to be working normally didn't have to change anything.....thankfully!!!
Because I think any changes would be beyond my capabilities.

Thanks for all that you do for the "Tinkerer" in me!!!

just a quick question/observation.
1. i flashed the radio, spl and CM6 final 2708+ port (unofficial). all was good.
2. then did the same with custom mtd. all was good again. well... i couple of small problems, but nothing i havent seen before. IE - browser FC's etc.
3. went back to CM6 final 2708+ port (unofficial) w/out custom mtd. all good as well.
4. thought i'd like to try the CM5.0.8 2708+ port i saw on the xda thread. after flashing this i thought all was good. i get horrible t-mockery service at home, so seeing no service and the X signal meter didnt surprise me. later i was going through the settings>about menu. i noticed "Baseband version: Unknown". i thought that was odd.
5. so i re-flashed 6.1. i had signal again (made sure to go to the one known place in the house where t-mockery seems to bleed in). checked settings>about again. "Baseband version: 62.50SF.20.17U_2.22.27.08".
6. tried the CM5.0.8 2708+ port again. no go. baseband unknown.
7. did both again a few times making sure to dot all the I's and cross all the T's. same results.

question: has anyone else had this with the 5.0.8 2708 port?

i am about to try the biffmod port i saw on the xda thread to see how it goes.

I have a problem with market..Market is ok, but when I try to enter in the download area, I have an "server error" "click refresh or turn back". Help please!

edit:
I have read various posts, and I understand to have any problem with superuser and root.
When I type su in terminal, I get permission denied.
I tried to reflash by recovery su 2.1, but it don't work.
I have any problem with titanium, and with market.

Hey y'all

I've just recently did whole 2708+ kernel thingy, all exactly as said in instructions, but now my 3g / 2g is simply dead. I've checked apn - settings are ok. Ah, forgot :] i have a Dream - 32b, radio 2.22.27.08, hboot 1.33.0013d , as far as i remember haykuro spl <i think it doesn't matter> and this CM 5.0.8 on it. If it's important, 32 mb swap / 512 ext2, and i'm from Poland, provider named Era <i think it's connected to either O2 or T-Mobile>. On previous rom, to be honest - 5.0.8 but regular, everything worked just fine <as for the hardware of Dream ;]> , but after this radio and hboot juggling my from-provider net isn't working, alternating up and down for ~1 sec each. So, after that long intro, i'm just asking what could be the problem? Shall i try the alternate radio posted on xda?

Greets

Michael

1) use super wipe to wipe and reinstall
2) install 2.22.28.25
3) verify your apns
4) if still not connected check the *#*#4636#*#* screen (enter that into dialer)
5) check if there is any error.. if fixable fix it else call your carrier.

I am unable to flash a boot.img from recovery. Since I can't flash the boot.img from fastboot is there any way I can get the extra ram on CM5? Maybe someone can roll a nbh file for me?

In the event that someone finds a major bug (perhaps a security vulnerability), will there be an update to CyanogenMod 5.0.8?
