There is a quite good unofficial port called Inferior Human Organs.

It proves that the Optimus V can handle Cyanogemnod and handle it well.

That said, is there a way I can request official support for a device, such as the Optimus V?

I've been running an Inferior Human Organs build on my phone about since they first came out. I'm with nevermorealive. Is there anything stopping IHO from becoming an 'official' CyanogenMod device? I guess someone would need to be the device maintainer?

That is a big issue, and being the device maintiner is a big job as well.  The current configuration of IHO is not acceptable by CM standards, so alot of cleanup has to be done.  You can contact Blarf via the IHO repository if you want to contribute time/effort getting this accomplished.

New baseband/radio on Optimus S broke the ports that we had.

I have the optimus s from sprint and i am running the most recent CM7 which is 2.3.7. i rooted it originally with gingerbreak after sprint put out the "anit-root" update back in march. this is the second CM7 port i have flashed onto here and i gotta say that it runs pretty damn smooth. after i rooted it i put clockworkmod's thing on there and loaded the optimus v boot then flashed CM7. since i put 2.3.7 on here i have seen an improvement of performance and battery life. when i put the 2.3.4 rom on here the bluetooth didn't work properly and the performance sucked. 2.3.7 sped it back up and the bluetooth is clearer than the stock 2.2.2. the rom was made by kraven i think. as soon as i find the link i will post it so everyone can try. if i remember correctly his rom works for the entire low-end line. but i could be wrong. i can try to post screenshots if anyone has any doubts of my flash. but CM7 2.3.7 does work and works very well.

I've scoured the internet for countless hours to find an answer to this but have found nothing so I thought I'd try here.  Anyone know if I can use the same rom for an Optimus V on the new Optimus Slider?  Or if someone is going to make a rom for the slider?

Do believe BobZhome was working on a port for it. If he ever released one I do not know.

not sure where i should post this but i figured if its in the wrong spot someone will tell me. but i have the optimus v android version 2.3.7 cyangenmod 7.2.0.backside-iho-kang build eng.jerry.20111122.082819 and i've found a bug with the camcorder. just really used the camcorder for the first time even tho i've had the phone a year and noticed that there was no sound in any of my videos i recorded a few days ago (bummer) because it was some funny stuff. resetting back to factory nor removing the battery resolved it. out of frustration i found that the problem is for some reason it seems like the phone switches to speakerphone mode whenever i turn on camcorder.  the workaround i've been doing is that i just have to keep tapping the record button until it gets out the speakerphone mode. i can tell its in the speakerphone mode because if i press record and the "ding" is loud  so i have to keep tapping it until i get a low sounding "ding" and that way i know its not in speakerphone mode and my video will have sound. tested this out and it worked everytime but its a pain especially if i'm in a loud area because i can't tell the volume of the ding very well unless i hold my ear to the phone. annoying. especially since i wiped my entire phone thinking it was just some kind of app conflict.

This is a known bug.  There appears to be a race condition between the end of the video click sound and the begining of sound recording.

The workaround is to disable camera shutter sound under settings.

Please post bug reports for BACKside to this xda thread, thanks!

BTW- the current release for BACKside is 02092012, you're a bit out of date.  ;)

The links for all IHO Kangs of CM7.2 are on the repository's wiki/binary page:
https://github.com/i...mon/wiki/Binary

If you choose BACKside-IHO, once installed, there is a custom BacksideUpdater that will
keep you up-to-date with the latest builds.  It shows changelogs, provides downloads,
tests md5sums, installs recovery, and boots you into recovery to flash the updates. ;)

I'm looking at the IHO Wiki, and the Optimus T isn't even mentioned! The only other build I can find break the APN settings, so I can't connect to my carrier (Family Mobile, which is powered by T-Mobile). Will there be any love for my phone?
